TWO MALE SLIMMERS are celebrating after losing seven stones between them at a group in Stonehouse.

Jon (36) and Luke (29) joined their local Slimming World group at Stonehouse Park Junior School in April 2023.

Luke lost 4st 10lb to reach his target in December 2023.

He said: “We had both found that our clothes were seeming tighter and we weren’t happy with what we saw when we caught a glimpse of ourselves in the mirror so we decided to join a Slimming World group.

“My mum had been a member and had had great results so we thought we’d give it a go!

“Lesley our consultant could have more welcoming and the support from the group has been amazing.

“Now we don’t feel nervous about mirrors or photos and no uncomfortably tight clothes for us!

Jon meanwhile lost 3st 2.5lbs and reached his target weight in November 2023.

Stroud News and Journal: Two slimmers from a Stonehouse group have lost seven stone between themHe said: “We were made very welcome.

“There’s a real mix of people – men and women of all ages - and we have a great time.

“We have also learned how to cook healthier versions of our favourite meals like a big cooked breakfast or shepherd pie and every week at we celebrate our achievements and share recipes and handy tips.”

Slimming World consultant Lesley Shallcross who runs the Stonehouse Park Junior School group said: “It’s great that we’re able to celebrate their success and, without doubt, they and all the men who attend my group have improved their health.

“That’s so important because the latest obesity statistics from the Government show that there are more overweight and obese men in England than women – 65 per cent of men are overweight or obese compared to 56 per cent of women.

"Even though men tend to be more nervous when they first join, they are actually some of the most successful slimmers.

“Men tend to have more muscle mass than women do and as muscle uses up energy it means that men often lose weight a little faster than women."
