A KEY STROUD road will be closed for a week.
Yesterday, Friday, a closure was put in place at Stratford Road - near the mini roundabout by the Tesco superstore.
The stretch of road is expected to close until 3.30pm on Friday, February 16 - delays are expected.
A post on Gloucestershire County Council highways website says that the closure is in place due to 'large amounts of debris in carriageway', and that the closure was put in place so that the road could be made safer.
Potholes - as seen in the picture - have appeared on the stretch of Stratford Road which is closed.
GCC councillor John Bloxsom said: "This is happening far too often on the same small section of road and it causes massive problems around the town."
A post by bus company Stagecoach yesterday read: "For the duration of the road closure at Stratford Road we expect to see an increase in congestion to all services leaving and entering Stroud Merrywalks.
"This has potential to cause delays to all services of up to 20 mins particularly at peak times."
More to follow.
