A SPECIAL CELEBRATION took place to honour a much-loved and talented teenage rugby player who left a community in shock last year.

Minchinhampton RFC united in sorrow at the loss of Euan Warner, who died aged just 18 in February last year.

Described as 'fearless, brave and strong', Euan had played for the club since the age of seven and was known for being hugely popular, not just for his talent but for his fun and energy.

Former Thomas Keble School student Euan, who died on February 10 2023, has been sorely missed by his parents, Rachael and Paddy McDonnell-Poole, and sisters Freya and Olivia.

This weekend for the first anniversary of his death there was a celebration of his life which will also help to raise money for the club.

Mum Rachael Poole said: “Minch Rugby Club was a massive part of Euan’s life and helped shape the man he became.

“They have been so supportive over the past year and I know we will always be part of their family.

“The love we felt on Saturday was overwhelming and all these beautiful people young and old, have made this year so much easier.

“Celebrating Euan’s life has helped us all deal with the pain of losing him.

“The DJ’s Jamie Rainbow, Mark “Moggie” Moore, DJ Siany B plus Benny G were so brilliant and gave their time for free.”

The celebration took place at the Old Lodge in Minchinhampton on Saturday evening.

Nick, Christophe and Ollie from the Old Lodge, who had known Euan all his life and all loved him dearly, provided the location for the event.

They said: “Euan was a dedicated and beloved member of staff here at the Old Lodge for many years.”

A bench has also been put in the garden looking towards the sunset as Euan loved a good sunset – he used to sit there on his breaks.
