THE NIGHT ANGELS scheme which launched in December has been gathering pace in recent weeks.

At the time of its December launch Chrissie Lowery, who set up Safe Space following multiple attacks against women across the area, said: "We patrol around the night time venues, helping women get home safe, offering first aid if needed, sliders, water, glucose tablets for low blood sugars."

One night the Night Angels were out until 4am assisting someone who suffered a suspected fractured ankle and looking for a a vulnerable missing girl.

A GoFundMe campaign was also recently launched by the group as they try and expand their operations.

The money donated would be for essential costs, including for a website, app, uniform and more services.

The Angels, who now have a helpline which operates from 9.30pm on Fridays and Saturdays until the end of the shift, are looking for more volunteers.

Stroud News and Journal: Some of the activities the Night Angels have undertaken in recent weeksCurrently, a rotating dedicated team of six women volunteers patrol the streets every Friday and Saturday from 11 pm to 3am and 4 am, offering not only first aid, water, emotional and psychological support but also a safe lift home for those in need.

The Night Angels receive advanced training and would only need to commit to one shift a month.
