PLANS have been revealed to knock down a bungalow near businesses on a key road into Dursley and replace it with new homes.

Applicant G & N Chambers Ltd has applied for planning permission to demolish the structure in Uley Road and replace it with new four houses.

The scheme - which is located near Marlen Motors, Modes Hairdressing and Elevation One - was officially submitted to Stroud District Council on Tuesday.

According to the application, the new homes would be two pairs of semi-detached properties, each with two parking spaces making a total of eight spaces.

As part of the development, bin and cycle storage areas plus new tree planting and EV charging points have also been proposed.

It is understood the scheme is part of a wider project by the applicants and a new road will also be built for access.

The applicants were given planning permission in November to convert an old builders workshop into a new office block at the rear of the site.

The office project includes creating four offices, a reception, toilets and a kitchen which would have four parking spaces plus a cycle rack.

At the time, four residents objected with many raising fears over parking, congestion, privacy and flooding due to the site's proximity to the River Ewelme

However the plan supported by Dursley Town Council was eventually approved by SDC.

A planning document reads: "It is proposed to demolish the existing bungalow and erect four dwellings, retaining the office use at the northern end of the site, along with a shared parking area.

"The dwellings would take the form of two pairs of semi-detached dwellings.

"We feel the resultant scheme will enhance the locality, not only in the early years but also in the years to come as the landscaping matures and use of high quality, robust finishes stand the test of time

"Following careful consideration of the site location and context we feel the proposed scheme will bring about a significant enhancement to the immediate locality whilst delivering a small, quality development of new family homes in a highly sustainable location.

"The occupants may work in the area and will undoubtedly engage in the local community bringing about social and economic benefits."
