People-powered conservation charity Stroud Valleys Project (SVP) is hosting a special community tree-planting morning in Cashes Green on Saturday: Trees in the Green, and they’d like local people to come and get involved.

“We’ll be at the Elm Road play area at Cashes Green from 10.30am until 12.30pm,” explains SVP project officer Sharon Gardham.

“We’re planting a mixed native hedgerow and we’d love it if people from Cashes Green – or anywhere in Stroud! – could come along and lend a hand.

“If you’d like to do your bit to help to tackle the climate crisis while improving this community space for people and for wildlife, please join us.

“We’ll also be giving advice about planting the right tree in the right place and giving lots of hints and tips that people can take back to their very own green space.”

It’s a free drop-in session, with all equipment provided, but you will need to wear weather suitable clothes, stout footwear, and if you have them, robust gardening gloves.

This event is part of SVP’s Garden Guardians project, which is supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund. Stroud Valleys Project manages green spaces across the district, including Sarah’s Field in Berkeley, Kingswood Newt Ponds near Wotton, and the walled garden at Prinknash Abbey.
