AN appeal has been issued after thieves were caught stealing tiles from a closed village pub in the area.

In the early hours of this morning, a group of males were spotted removing tiles from the roof of the Rose and Crown in Nympsfield, according to police.

When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a large amount of roof tiles in a white Vauxhall van.

One male standing near the vehicle ran away from the scene when officers arrived.

Police have now seized the van.

It is understood the incident happened at 2.48am today, Friday, March 15.

The incident comes when villagers are hoping to reopen the 19th century boozer as a community pub.

The pub was previously placed on the market by estate agents Colliers for offers of around £450,000 in June last year.

It has been closed to members of the public since early February 2023.

The pub was officially granted an asset of community value in June last year following a nomination from Nympsfield Parish Council.
