DOZENS marched to Cam Peak as part of the area’s annual Easter Walk of Witness.

The poignant Good Friday procession sees church-goers and residents erect a cross on the top of Cam Peak.

The cross will stay at the top of the hill over the Easter period.

The Walk of Witness is an annual tradition where Christians imitate the journey that Jesus Christ took carrying his cross through the streets of Jerusalem.

An organiser said: “It all went well, and was attended by a large number of people.

“The weather was very mixed, with pouring rain between St George's Church and the Farm at the top of Springhill.

“The walk finished in the car park at Cam Peak as the grass was so slippery it would have been dangerous to continue to the usual finishing place, half way up.

“Just a handful of people took the cross up to the top of the peak and erected it.”
