THE RETURN of a much-loved and popular clothing brand to Stroud town centre has been welcomed.
On Thursday Peacocks is to make a dramatic return to Stroud at the Five Valleys Shopping Centre.
The clothing brand shut its Russell Street store in March 2022.
The news has been welcomed by the chair of Stroud Chamber of Trade Tony Davey.
He said: "The return of Peacocks to the town centre is very much welcomed and I know that many Stroud customers are very happy with this move.
"Towns such as Stroud need a good mix of shops for different budgets and, since its departure from Russell Street and the collapse of M & Co, there has been a hole in the offering within Stroud.
"The unit size in the Five Valleys Shopping Centre fits the Peacocks model well, though is not necessarily favourable for other clothing discounters who demand larger units not available within Stroud Town, and larger catchments than Stroud can offer.
"It is also a positive sign that Peacocks wish to invest within the town, something also evident by the many other units within the town centre that are currently being refurbished in anticipation of opening soon with new tenants."
