A PAINSWICK tennis ace is set to face a World number one at Wimbledon.
Former Stroud High School pupil Alicia Barnett and playing partner Freya Christie have been drawn against current World number one Elise Mertens and former World number one Hsieh Su-wei in the ladies' doubles.
Alicia made the headlines in 2022 in her Wimbledon debut she and fellow Brit Jonny O’Mara former world number one Venus Williams and two-time doubles Wimbledon champion Jamie Murray in the second round of the mixed doubles.
Highlights of this season so far include a semi-final appearance with Freya Christie at the W100 Zaragoza as well as finishing runner-up with Sarah Beth Grey at the W35 Loughborough.
Alicia is ranked 148 in doubles.
The doubles are set to start on Wednesday, July 3.
