A CANAL visitor centre could be operating in part of Stroud’s former Bell Hotel as soon as April under plans revealed yesterday by the Cotswold Canals Trust.
The facility at Wallbridge would allow residents to find out about the regeneration, buy merchanside, donate to the trust, or even become a member.
In the future, the charity hopes the lock-side location will be the perfect base for boat trips, guided walks and picnics.
Stroud Town Council pledged £2,000 annually over the next three years towards running costs after the plans were revealed at a full council meeting last night.
The trust is seeking donations from other sources.
See the SNJ next week for more details.
