KEEN cook Janice Neale is to appear on the popular Channel 4 show Come Dine With Me this Sunday after beating off competition from around 150 other applicants.

Millions will watch as Janice, 45, of Bath Road, Stroud, cooks up a delicious menu of chorizo and crayfish starter followed by amaretto chicken and a mixed berry Pavlova dessert.

Janice - a vivacious, straight-talking mother-of-three who once worked as a cook at the Whitemoor residential care home in Amberley - will be seen competing against three other amateur cooks from Cheltenham and Gloucester in a bid to score the most points and win £1,000 in prize money.

Filming took place during a week in November and Janice was given £125 to spend on the evening.

She had never met the other contestants and was the first on the show to host a meal.

"I got on really well with one lady but I had a big falling out with another contestant, you will see all the drama in the programme," she said.

"I felt my night was the best, we all got on then.

"My starter was delicious but I had a bit of a disaster with my main course."

The other dinner parties were held in Cheltenham and Gloucester. For one night, Janice was asked to take slippers and on another she had to dress up for a James Bond themed do.

"I am a bit worried about how the programme will have been edited," she said.

"But it was a great experience and I made a true friend.

"Next I am going to apply for Wife Swap," she joked.

A close friend, Justine Norman, sent in an application form on Janice's behalf after receiving a leaflet asking for contestants.

Janice, who is married to Jeremy, a car restorer, beat around 150 other applicants to appear on the show, which is on Channel 4 at 8pm this Sunday, March 28.
