Four people have been arrested following an incident in Cirencester last night, Thursday March 25.

At approximately 10.40pm police received reports from residents in Ashcroft Road in Cirencester that they had heard a loud bang.

Police attended and it is believed that two shots had been fired at a building on the road, which has caused damage to a window.

Three 18-year-old men from Cirencester and a 17-year-old local boy have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm and criminal damage. They are currently helping police with their enquiries.

Nobody was injured in the incident and it is thought that all parties involved are known to each other.

Chief Superintendent for the area Gary Thompson said; “Local residents may be understandably concerned about this and we would like to reassure them that incidents such as this are very rare and keeping local residents safe from harm is at the centre of all we do.

“Our officers acted quickly in response to the report and as a result four arrests have been made and a full investigation has been launched.

“We would like to thank the local community for their assistance thus far and also appeal to anyone with any information, who hasn’t yet spoken to us, to get in touch.”
