AN elderly couple died and another three motorists suffered injuries in a road traffic collision on the A429 between Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold.
The collision happened around 3.05pm yesterday, Sunday, August 8, and involved three vehicles, namely a silver Mazda travelling towards Stow, a silver BMW and a white Vauxhall Vivaro van travelling towards Bourton.
A 90-year-old man from Coventry, who was a passenger in the Mazda, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His wife, 86, was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford by air ambulance where she later died from her injuries.
The driver of the Mazda, a 63-year-old woman from Warwickshire, was also taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital where she described as being in a stable condition but with life changing injuries. The driver of the BMW, a 61-year-old man from Chipping Norton, and the driver of the Vauxhall van, a 49-year-old man from Gloucester, suffered minor injuries.
