SUE Davie, chief executive of Stroud-based charity The Meningitis Trust, has welcomed news that researchers have pinpointed a certain set of genes which render some people more prone to meningitis. "At the Meningitis Trust, we see first-hand the devastation that meningococcal disease can cause, and anything that can help us understand more about this deadly disease is welcomed by us," she said. It is hoped the findings will lead to the development of new vaccines.
