THE Outcast Band play at the Prince Albert in Rodborough on Saturday at 8pm.

Before the group got together in 1991, Paul Godfrey and Damien Kay had crossed paths through playing in various rock, punk and blues bands. The pair lost touch, but then one day Damien heard that Paul had dropped his drumsticks in favour of learning the fiddle. And Paul heard that Damien wasn't concentrating on the Blues anymore, but had started listening to the Waterboys, Steve Earl and other ‘rootsy’ bands. It was decided a jam was in order and the pair met up for a session, which ended up going on all night and half the next day. They knew they’d found something special and began rounding up other musicians and writing material. After initially busking in Guildford and Farnborough, they’ve gone on to tour England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France, Belgium and Germany. They released a new album in November, 2010, called The Longest Mile.
