Stroud Wine Circle
THE National Wine Makers competition was recently held in Hull where John Saunders took first place with his red dessert wine.
Closer to home the competition for the Spencer/Walton trophy was held at Brockworth when Stroud took the three top places with David Raymond, Ursula Lambert and Dave Marlow scooping the honours for their dry white wine.
At the regular monthly meeting we were treated to a fascinating talk and demonstration by Jeffery Ford from Brownshill who is an extremely skilled enameliser and uses his talent to make jewellery.
He was thanked by the Chairperson, Valerie Fussell.
There were two Circle competitions judged by Bill and Bridget Berrecloth of Brockworth.
The first for a medium sweet rose was won by Sue Gilpin with Ken Lambert second and Dave Marlow third.
The second was for white dessert wine and here Fred Gilpin triumphed with Ursula Lambert second and Dave Marlow third.
