FROM Woodchester to women worldwide
The Springboard Women’s Development Programme, created by two local women, Jenny Daisley and Liz Willis, began with an idea in Liz’s attic in Woodchester, more than twenty years ago.
For this work, in October 2014, both Jenny and Liz received OBEs “for services to the empowerment and development of women in the UK and Worldwide”.
Now in use across 35 countries through a network of 1,300 local trainers, the programme has been used by over 240,000 diverse women, from many contrasting backgrounds and cultures.
On Wednesday, February 11 at 7.30 pm, Nailsworth Quakers invite you to hear how they did it and how the work continues to grow at a talk on “Empowering Women Worldwide” at Nailsworth Quaker Meeting House – together with anecdotes, pictures and case studies from women in the Middle East (where most of the Springboard work is sponsored by regional offices of the British Council), in India, Africa and the UK.
