LANSDOWN Art Club had another excellent and well attended meeting on February 2, when we had Bryan Shambler, a very well known artist from South Wales, demonstrating 'A Portrait in Pastels'.

As he worked he explained how he was observing his model and constructing her features.

He used a large range of pastel colours in stick and pencil form.

He also noticed how useful his fingers were for blending the colours.

Our lucky, and exemplary model, was gifted with a beautiful likeness of herself to take home and frame.

The sales table, laden with donations from members, including a set of acrylic paints, an immaculate table easel and a small set of oil paints, was almost totally sold out to the benefit of both club and donators.

We were pleased to have eight entries for the Pictures of the Month.

It was won by Hazel King with her painting of her dog Oben for which she received a £5 voucher.

The next meeting is on Tuesday, March 10, at 7.30 in Sainsbury's cafe when Bryan Weaver will demonstrate 'A Townscape in Line and Wash'.

New members and visitors are always welcome.

Our annual exhibition is being held in Stroud Subscription Rooms from Saturday, April 11 to Saturday, April 18 (excluding Sunday 19) 10am to 5pm.
