THE guest speaker at the April meeting was Mrs Margaret Daniels, 'The Bard of Barnwood' who gave a presentation of her own poetry and prose.
It would not be stretching the imagination to describe her as Gloucestershire's own Pam Ayres.
From the opening poem to the last she had the members in a state of continuous laughter and the whole evening passed by much too quickly.
Valerie Fussell, the chairwoman gave a vote of thanks and in reply Margaret said her speaker's fee would be donated to the John Hopkins Trust.
This resulted in members making individual contributions which came to quite a considerable sum.
There were two competitions judged by Stuart Wilsdon and Gerald Cronk from Cheltenham, in the table white dry class Eric Brint was adjudged the winner with Valerie Fussell second and Dave Marlow third.
The table white sweet was won by Valerie Fussell with Brenda and Dave Marlow coming second and third respectively.
