Easter at Saint James' Church
Youngsters at Saint James’ Church, Quedgeley, started to celebrate Easter early this year at their monthly STJs Family Service when they made Easter baskets and went searching for eggs and jelly beans in the pews and aisles of the local church.
The church was packed with youngsters; the theme for the morning was The Easter Story.
Story time led by Jane Rogers told the story of Easter week, starting with youngsters waving palm leaves, the children then took a trip round the church to the ‘cross’ and the ‘tomb’ where according to the New Testament Jesus had been crucified and his body had been laid in a tomb until his resurrection on Easter Day.
The craft activity led by Emma Price was making Easter baskets and finding the hidden eggs and jelly beans within the church.
Fr. John Rector and Parish Priest said: ‘The children enthusiastically took part in the mornings’ activities. It was a great morning and I’m looking forward to see everyone attend our Easter morning service at 10.30am”
