Stroud Gardening Club's Christmas Social
STROUD Gardening Club held their Christmas Social in December, and chairperson Sharon Pellatt introduced our speaker for the evening, Katherine Kear.
Katherine was in full Victorian costume dress to give a talk on the history behind lots of our customs to celebrate the Christmas season.
This was a very interesting subject and lots of details were given by Katherine to explain the Victorian influence in the customs we follow today, both for Christmas and the winter season.
At the end, Sharon thanked Katherine for her interesting talk, and invited her and all present to enjoy the buffet party food which had been beautifully prepared by our members and laid out for everyone to take pleasure in.
After a very social end to the evening, all were thanked for their contributions, and the raffle was drawn.
Our next meeting is on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at the Bedford Street Congregational Church Rooms, Stroud at 7.30pm, and our speaker is Dave Knowles talking on wildlife ponds in the garden.
All members and visitors are welcome to join us.
