A STONEHOUSE resident has been selected as the first candidate for a new political party.

Tyler White, a sales assistant, has been selected as a candidate for the National Distributist Party for the Stonehouse Town Council by-election on Tuesday, April 4.

The NDP was formed in April 2020, with the aim of causing change in the social and economic stance of British politics.

They describe themselves as a 'socially theocratic and conservative party, who support distributism economically.'

Stroud News and Journal:

They say they stand for local families, local business, local communities, and the environment - all of which are essential for the economic principle of Distributism.

On his selection, Tyler said: "I am delighted to be able to have the opportunity to represent such a great town like Stonehouse.

"My job has informed me of many of the issues facing not only Stonehosue, but also the general surrounding area.

"It is through local politics that I wish to begin facing these issues head on.

"I believe that the greatest impact on Stonehouse would be to address the small issues which affect the local environment, mostly in the region of keeping Stonehouse clean.

"The list is endless, but this will be achieved through removing obscene graffiti, maintaining bus shelters, keeping streets spotless, and cutting back overgrowth.

"Once I am elected, I will take a hands-on approach to sorting out these issues by doing the work myself.

"I will also add a new perspective to the council, as it is well known that councilors, especially those of low-level local government, are of a different age demographic to myself.

"This will address issues felt by younger people who are often not represented.

"Finally, I will also pledge to support planning that is in keeping with the area’s surroundings, as well as actively promoting any planning requests that serve to enhance the beauty of the local area and benefit the local people by serving a productive function."
