MADAM – I was disappointed that after ringing around various tourist attractions no-one appeared to be celebrating St George’s Day.
Berkeley Castle had a ‘Dragon Easter’ so the dragons may still have been around on April 23, but no-one could confirm whether the English flag would be flying!
The Stagecoach – a pub on the A38 at Newport – serves a ‘dragon pie’ as part of its normal menu but did not fly the English flag because it would upset the Scots and Welsh.
The only place I could find that offered anything special was The Ram Inn, at Bussage, which put on a special St George’s Day menu in the evening, accompanied by a folk singer.
Three cheers for The Ram
