MADAM - I’m writing to thank the SNJ for your excellent, evidence-based coverage of the Gloucestershire badger cull during 2014.
Your regular reporting has been the subject of much comment from badger lovers from across the country.
Indeed one couple joined our Wounded Badger Patrols for a week from Spain having seen one of your articles on your website.
Stroud residents have been extremely supportive of the campaign to halt this pointless cull and have come out in large numbers to walk the footpaths around Newent and Tewkesbury for many nights during this years six week cull.
Sadly the current government is planning to press ahead with the cull in 2015 despite all the evidence showing that the real cause of cattle TB is the way the cattle are tested and moved around the country.
It now looks as though the latest attempt to kill more badgers will for the first time in 2015 involve shooting young badger cubs who are just a few months old in an attempt to increase the miserable success rate of numbers killed by the government’s gunmen.
Gloucestershire Against Badger Shooting (GABS) will be out again in 2015 if the cull does go ahead and we hope that the SNJ will continue to keep people in the loop with the facts which many others seem unable to print.
Any more Stroudies wishing to join our campaign can contact Gloucestershire Against Badger Shooting via our website at glosagainstbadgershooting.org or by calling 0792 877 5012.
Yours in hope for 2015.
