MADAM – In the SNJ edition of February 25, you published a letter from a Dr Clifford Williams writing from Andover in Hampshire.
Dr Williams was clearly keen to support the anti-incineration lobby by claiming that toxic emissions from the incinerator will be potentially very harmful to people living miles downwind of the chimneys, adding that he would not want to live anywhere near the incinerator.
I assume Dr Williams is aware that residual waste in his own county of Hampshire has been incinerated for many years in Energy Recovery Facilities near Southampton, Portsmouth and Basingstoke.
These are all large centres of population, much larger than any in Gloucestershire, and I would have thought that if the health risks are as serious as predicted by Dr Williams then we would all be aware of the consequences by now.
