MY LETTER of November 18, was in response to an accusation of scaremongering by Neil Carmichael and Paul McLain as if they were in a position to do so.

Although it has mysteriously stopped now, I am sure all constituents will readily remember the torrent of blue propaganda that we had through our front doors during the election campaign. It was well in excess of all the other ‘parties propaganda put together and was mainly based around scaremongering, telling us how dangerous it would be if we voted for anyone else but them.

This was possible because those with a vested interest in keeping the Tories in power were prepared to put their money into the election fund.

If Mark Peer doesn’t think the election result is in any way influenced by this then I think he should ask himself why then is so much money wasted in this way.

Does it not suggest a ‘party that is extremely wasteful and one that should not be allowed anywhere near public money.

Mr Peer goes on to accuse me of saying The House of Lords is more in touch with ordinary people than the ‘Commons but I didn’t say that at all.

What I said was that on the issue of Tax Credits it seemed that as The House of Lords voted against it the impression was that they were at least sufficiently aware and concerned as to the hardship likely to be caused to the most vulnerable in our “society” that they weren’t prepared to let it pass.

If Mr Peer thinks they were wrong I can only assume he is not likely to be effected by tax credits himself and couldn’t care less about those who are. Presumably in the same way as the millionaire “cabinet” who come up with these ludicrous policies.

I assume Mr Peer considers himself to be rational so perhaps he could tell us why under this wonderful administration that “rational people” voted for we have an ever increasing number of people visiting food banks, personal debt has gone through the roof, we have a desperate need for social housing but ‘authorities aren’t allowed to build any, the gap between rich and poor has never been bigger and our roads are in a worse state than they were 50 years ago.

Thank goodness rational people are in charge.
