I SHOULD like all the opponents of the proposed Aldi store to visit Yate. It has a covered shopping precinct which houses 100 shops – real shops, not coffee shops, a good selection of all shops.
There are four supermarkets: Marks and Spencer food hall, Tesco, Morrisons and Lidl, all within walking distance of each other and I believe a Sainsburys is nearby.
All these shops were doing a good trade when we visited, an added bonus is a four-hour free parking time.
Surely when there are people in the town needing food banks a cheaper store would be an advantage.
