I’D LIKE to take this opportunity to thank all the kind people from Stroud and the valleys who offered my daughter Ruby a lift home when she was hitch hiking back to Stroud from Cam and Dursley station.

The two year course she did in SGS Filton isn’t offered in Stroud.

Like most 17-year-olds, she can’t afford to run a car and relies on public transport and her feet!

The bus service from the station is every two hours – last bus at 18.20 – which frequently leaves before the train has arrived.

Without the kindness of local people – who picked Ruby up in rain or shine, she wouldn’t have completed her course and now be off to university.

My heartfelt thanks, but why, in the 21st Century do we have such a poor public transport system and when is Stonehouse (Bristol Road) Station going to re-open so locals can travel to Bristol easily.
