THE boys played brilliantly to beat Northants in two days at the Cheltenham Festival.

Although it has been frustrating to be injured and have to watch from the sidelines the first thing you like to see as a player is the team win.

Whoever is on the pitch that is always the main priority. We are very close as a squad and everyone take pleasure in each other’s success.

I think the bowling unit did fantastically against Northants. With injuries to me and Matty Taylor they have had a big workload in recent weeks and I am looking forward to be able to help them out again.

I injured a muscle in my shoulder and have been working my way back to fitness over the last few weeks. I have spent pretty much every day working with Steve Griffin our physio building things back up.

I started out bowling into a mit, then at batsmen and then managed to get through all my overs in a Second XI match at Canterbury on Monday. Hopefully I will be back in contention for selection from our last NatWest T20 Blast match at Glamorgan on July 24 onwards.

After that our attentions in white ball cricket will turn to the Royal London One Day Cup which starts for us on July 26 v Yorkshire.

I have just found out that former England bowler Angus Fraser has picked me out as one to watch in that competition which is very flattering.

It’s always been a format that I’ve found exciting. I can understand why people thought it was a bit formulaic and that it tended to slow down in the middle overs between the power play and the death but I think the World Cup and the England v New Zealand series has changed that perception.

We have players in our squad like Jack Taylor and Benny Howell that have come up playing in this aggressive way people keep talking about and we believe the Royal London One Day Cup is a competition we can do well in.
