Forest Green Ladies 1

West Ham United 0

A LATE Kirsty Richardson strike gained Forest Green Ladies a fantastic win over West Ham United at Wisloe Road today, Sunday, writes Richard Joyce.

The midfielder broke through to slot home brilliantly to clinch Josh Giddins' team  their first victory in the FA Women’s Premier League South, since clinching promotion.

Instrumental Paige Stewart dominated proceedings from midfield, and she powered two efforts on the West Ham goal early on that signalled Forest Green’s intent.

As the second half progressed, Rovers hold on the game became even more intense, and they came agonisingly close to netting the first on 70 minutes.

A clever Stewart ball forward was seized upon by Richardson in the box, although she couldn’t find the net with the ball spearing off wide.

The experienced midfielder made sure she would bag the all important goal when another opportunity fell her way.

She raced through beyond the Hammers' defence and drove in an accurate finish that left goalkeeper Aditi Chauhan stranded.
