NEW Brimscombe boss Sam Prior reflects on recent results and life in the Hellenic Premier Division.

The game against Cheltenham Saracens in the FA Vase was a really good win for us against a good side.

It was the first time we showed good game management skills by closing the game down and keeping the football in the right areas.

Our recent results have been frustrating to say the least. Our performances, although not brilliant, have been far from poor and the results don't reflect the way we've played.

Our own mistakes have cost us dearly in terms of when we make silly decisions; we are getting punished by conceding goals. For us to progress and improve, we have to cut these mistakes out.

The FA Cup clash at home to Bracknell Town shows that if you do not take your chances then anyone can get anything from a game.

We completely out-played, out-thought and out fought Bracknell at home in the first 45, but only ended up going in 2-1 up at half-time. We missedsome glorious opportunities during the game and credit to them; they kept going all day and got an equaliser with two minutes to go.

The replay was a scrappy game and again, by conceding a free-kick in a silly position we were made to pay by a very good strike from Cooper-Clark. It was extremely frustrating and disappointing for us to go out, but we only have ourselves to blame for not taking our chances in the first game and missed the chance to face Shortwood in the next round.

Regarding life in the Hellenic Premier; as much as the lads are fighting for positions and trying to settle into the season, it's been a steep learning curve for me as well.

I've been getting to know the players, who plays best where, who's best at what and that has sometimes left the side slightly unsettled.

With the first month now under my belt, I'm starting to get an idea of who I want where and that's important as it will start to bring a sense of stability to the side and give us a platform to start building from. I've loved every game so far as it's a tough, tough league and hopefully there's plenty more to come from us all!
