STROUD gained the derby day spoils against Painswick.
They started on the front foot and were awarded three early corners.
However, Painswick responded, but keeper Sara Price was in formidable form.
Stroud’s Marsi Whelan controlled midfield with some strong, accurate square passes to Karen Whitehead and Sophie Payne.
Use of the straight ball was beautifully demonstrated by Kathy Williams, Mandi Lewis and Sarah Scott, whilst Annie Hobbins stopped two Painswick shots on the line.
Stroud’s goal came in the second-half from a great shot from Jenny Howorth, the culmination of some fantastic attacking work from Annabel Wigley.
The defence of Di Furlong, Jules LeBihan and Pauline Edgington produced some tight marking and accurate passing.
