FOREST GREEN striker Rhys Murphy has joined National League side Torquay United on a three-month loan deal.
New Gulls boss Gary Owers made FGR utility player Callum Evans his first addition on loan last week and has raided his former club again for the former Arsenal striker.
Murphy signed for Rovers from Oldham last summer, making 17 appearances and scoring seven goals, before joining York City and Crawley Town on loan.
Murphy was left out of the Rovers side on his return and has been training with Forest Green's academy before his switch to Torquay
“He’s got a track record of scoring goals,” Owers told DevonLive
“There were other clubs interested in him, but he’s decided to come here, which I am pleased about.
“We have got a bit of work to do to get him fitter, but we are looking for someone to get us a few goals at the top of the pitch, and hopefully Rhys can be that person.”
The transfer is subject to EFL and National League confirmation.
