Old Cryptians............................................ 44
Minchinhampton Rams..................................27
MINCHINHAMPTON Rams were edged out by a strong Old Cryptians side.
The home side took the lead with two tries, but were pegged back by Minch through an Oscar Adamson penalty and a score under the posts from scrum-half Jon Sparkhall.
A strong forwards battle commenced with scrummages aplenty. A strong Minch pack where captain Chris Huggins was joined by the likes of club stalwarts Austin, Davis and Moore and Minch newcomers Nathan Huggins and Lee Marshall, competed well at set pieces, but could not prevent a further Cryptians score.
Minch pulled another try back when a good team move was finished off by Gabriel Blythe-Haus. Despite this, the home side finished the half the stronger and added two further tries before the break.
The second-half was as keenly contested by both sides with Adamson providing impetus for Minch.
Cryptians scored first but Minch hit back when Chris Brookman finished strongly in the corner.
Crypts never looked like relinquishing their lead although The Rams were rewarded with a bonus point when man-of-the-match Adamson chipped through and Sam Knight provided the clinical finish.
