Jake Parrott is back on his football perch.
The former Shortwood United captain has joined Hellenic Premier Division Brimscombe & Thrupp after leaving Gloucestershire Northern Senior League Cam Bulldogs.
“I’m really happy to be playing at a higher level again,” said the 27 year-old former Hartpury student, who won a silver medal as a member of the Great Britain football team at the World University Games in Russia five years ago.
Midfielder Parrott is set to play for Sam Prior’s side against League Two outfit Forest Green Rovers at the Meadow on Friday night, 7.30pm.
He featured in Brimscombe’s opening pre-season 6-0 victory over Chalford, but missed the narrow 4-3 defeat at home to National League South outfit Weston-super-Mare on Wednesday.
“Sam Prior’s ambition was a big factor in me joining the club,” admitted Parrot. “We want to finish in the top four and see how far we can go.”
Brimscombe will also include former Shortwood captain Matt Bennett, who has joined the Lilywhites from Southern League Evesham United, and Parrott is delighted to be reunited with his former Wood team-mate.
“With experienced players like Benno (Matt Bennett) signing and all the talented youngsters, the season could be special.”
