Stonehouse Town 2

Patchway Town 1

HIGH-FLYING Stonehouse Town gained three more points with a 2-1 win at home to Patchway Town.

There were early chances for both sides as Adam Philp set up Luke Soule, but his effort was just wide - meanwhile at the other end Dan Bendall was only just off target for Patchway.

The home side had a great chance to take the lead on 15 minutes when Tim Williams rose above everyone to head a cross from Philp home, but it just cleared the bar.

The home side went ahead on 26 minutes when the referee allowed play to continue after Philp had been fouled on the edge of the box only for Tim Williams to be allowed to curl the ball past Burgess into the Patchway net.

On 43 minutes the home side made it 2-0 from Alex Kibble's corner that came to Liam Gale on the edge of the D and he fired it past Burgess.

Then, right on half-time, Patchway hit back - Dan Rees turning the ball in from a corner. The second period failed to produce any further goals, but the home side had several chances that they wasted.

Stonehouse travel to Gala Wilton on Saturday, 3pm.
