A BRACE from the son of former Chelsea, Rangers and Leeds United striker Tore André Flo helped Hellenic Premier Division Brimscombe &Thrupp make it three wins on the bounce in a seven-goal Boxing Day thriller against Tuffley Rovers.

Hartpury College student Johan Flo, who joined Brimscombe from Westfields last month, helped himself to a double as Brimscombe raced into a 4-1 lead after half-an-hour with Jack Smith and James Campbell also on target. However, Tuffley made it 4-2 by the break thanks to Dom Kent’s strike – after Jake Rhodes’ header earlier on.

Joe Shutt scored for Tuffley after the break before Tyreece Briscoe sent his penalty crashing off the crossbar.

Brimscombe boss Sam Prior was delighted to see his team post another victory and lauded the impact of attacking-midfielder Flo, he said: “A win is a win, and we just about done enough today. On another day that game could’ve finished 8-8.

“The boys have shown fantastic character to now win three on the spin and get into touching distance of the rest. Still a lot of work to do, but it’s a happy Boxing Day.

“Johan is a very good player and a top lad and technically a very good player.”
