FOREST GREEN defender Liam Shephard may not play again this season, but prized asset George Williams is set to be unleashed at home to League Two rivals Walsall tomorrow.

Head coach Mark Cooper revealed during his pre-match press conference that Shephard is struggling to be fit before the end of the season and captain Joseph Mills is set for another month on the sidelines.

Cooper said: "I think (Liam) Shephard, after his scan this week, will do well to play again this season. Joseph Mills is still another month away. Shep had a scan and they are talking about six or seven weeks from that and then he has rehab after that. If he can do it, I'm sure he will."

Meanwhile, Welsh international Williams is expected to feature after being given a clean bill of health after breaking his leg in the season opener against Oldham.

Cooper added: "I spoke to (George Williams) this morning after training and he is ready now. He came into the picture a couple of weeks ago and he was filling the numbers on the bench but now he is ready to go onto the pitch and he is looking sharp."

Cooper discusses the impact of Birmingham City loanee Odin Bailey, the eye-catching form of Liam Kitching and Celtic starlet Jack Aitchison. The Rovers' head coach also calls for the fans to change the negative atmosphere at the New Lawn and back the players.
