STUART LITTLE is hoping his tour experience will stand him in good stead as he bids to land the Glenmuir PGA Professional Championship at The Oxfordshire.

The left hander from Minchinhampton Golf Club is in a share of second place at six under for the 72-hole tournament just a shot adrift of leader Jamie Harris (Nevill GC).

Little, who played on tour from 1992-96, added a flawless 70 to his opening round 68 to sit at six under for the tournament which is also supported by Peugeot and MPI Financial Services.

All he needs now, Little admits, is his putter to hot up.

"I didn’t hole a bean, not one putt but I played well and only missed one green," he said.

"I think it’s an advantage to have played tour golf, it’s predominantly four rounds and I feel a little more comfortable with that.

"You understand the importance of patience, like days like today where you are playing well and not holing putts. At the end of the day, though, I’m still in the tournament which is what it’s all about."

Little is alongside David Shacklady (Mossock Hall) and Dan Greenwood (Forest Pines) with Robert Giles (Greenore) and David Mortimer (Fore Ireland) a stroke further back.
