Over the last fortnight our readers have been nominating the top 10 takeaways in Stroud, and for the next week we’ll be profiling each of them so you can choose the Stroud News & Journal Best Takeaway 2021 winner.

Our seventh contestant is the Stirrup Cup, Bisley, which Julian Partridge has run since 2017.

He began selling takeaways during the first lockdown in March last year and they’ve been the business' only source of trade since he closed the pub temporarily on Christmas Eve.

On finding out his food had made it to the top 10, Julian said: “It was quite exciting really – I did a little bit of a dance and jumped around a bit. I’m chuffed to bits.”

“To be in the top ten is great, but to win it would be amazing.

”I’d be made up really. It would be a good achievement and good for the village.”

The pub has burgers, curries, pizzas and fish and chips on offer to take away.

“The takeaways are part of doing the community a favour in the small village we’re in and to remind people that I’m still here and want to be for a while,” said Julian, who trained at Cheltenham Catering College.

If you think the Stirrup Cup should be crowned the best takeaway in Stroud, you can vote for them using the voting coupon in this today’s paper (Wednesday, February 24 edition).

Or take a look at the other restaurants we've profiled this week here:

Once you've got your coupon, simply post it to: Stroud News & Journal Best Takeaway, Redhill House, 227 London Road, Worcester WR5 2JG.

Or you can leave the coupon with the restaurant you voted for when you collect your takeaway.

Or you can drop it through the letter box of the Stroud News and Journal office in Landsdown Road, Stroud, GL5 1BE, near the library.

Voting ends on March 7, 2021.
