SEVERAL traffic cameras have recently been spotted in the Stroud town centre.

Two of them - located near the Sub Rooms in George Street as well as another in Rowcroft Street - were seen padlocked against signposts.

Residents were left wondering what and why they were there for.

A spokesperson for Gloucestershire County Council said: "They have been put in place to monitor traffic movements in the area.

"They are being used to inform the Stroud District Council-led Levelling Up funding bid.

"The traffic counts have now been carried out and the cameras are being taken down."
